Summertime Pet Safety

We want your pets to stay healthy all summer long! As the weather is
getting warmer we will see more of your pets outside enjoying the
sunshine, and it is important to know potential summertime hazards to
your pet's health.
Here are a few things to be aware of:
  • Lawn care products - such as cacao bean mulch which will cause chocolate toxicity if ingested
  • Bait pesticides
  • Snake bites or insect stings
  • Heat Stroke - limit exercise during the afternoon when it is the warmest outside
  • Dehydration
  • Parasites - make sure your pet is on a monthly heartworm and flea preventative
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Burned paw pads from hot pavement
In addition, be aware of other pet's temperaments while at all of the
wonderful dog parks we have in the metro Atlanta area. There
will be an increased number of pets coming to check them out which may
increase anxiety or aggression for some dogs. Some of the dog parks we
recommend visiting are Fowler Park in Cumming, Windemere Park in
Cumming, Piedmont Park in Atlanta, and Newtown Dream Dog Park in
Johns Creek.
Have a PAWesome and safe summer!
